Earlier she was having trouble with the torrent on the thread, so I gave her the alternative torrent you provided Sawnah (the one with the .mkv file in it). I'm assuming that's what she used, so I'll take a wild guess and say it's the converter she used.

I'll ask her what converter she uses, and hook her up with a portable version of Xilisoft if necessary.

In the meantime, I don't see a problem with Mia's part technique wise, so I'm going to go ahead and let Gege's turn start, and give Mia a week or so to switch the clips she used with HD ones.

I figure this is only fair, since when she turned her part in, she seemed very stressed by the holidays, and apparently had given up her Christmas Eve to do the part in the first place. She also told me she STILL has holiday related things to take care of, so I figure it's asking for the impossible to ask her to do anything about it right now, so I'm going to be realistic and do it this way.

Does that sound like a good idea to everyone else?

No, no, HD is a part of the conditions of joining this MEP, so do not feel bad at all Sawnah. If it had been my part, I would've been happy for you to tell me about it.

Never feel bad for giving constructive criticism in a situation that grants it; if we want this MEP to be a true tribute to a great movie, we gotta be willing to put in that little extra effort.

Mia's part has been cleaned up with HD clips (it was indeed a converter issue), and it's a little different than the version she sent the first time around, but it still looks great next to Gege's.

Just one thing I have to point out. I don't think there's any need to render it in 1080p, since the original movie we're using is 720p, so rendering it in 1080p is upscaling it. And it'll automatically look a little worse quality than it should. Perfectionist maybe, but upscaling movies lowes the quality, that's a fact. If the we edited with a 1080p version of The Little Mermaid, it'd look amazing, but now, there's really no point in rendering in 1080p.

the MKV little mermaid download that I was sent- if I convert it is that gonna turn it to shit?
Because I've yet to convert the thing and I don't want it to look horrible and not match everything else is there a certain thing I should convert it too? Usually my quality still looks awesome when I convert stuff but I wanna make sure this goes down good so I won't have to do it twenty times >>.

Do you have Xilisoft? If you convert using that software, you should be fine. I usually convert to .avi, but I converted that particular file to .wmv because that was the file type Mia had converted to when she tried (she gave me the vegas file to her part and all I had to do was render it using the HD copy, but I had to keep the file type the same). It still came out fine, I just had to make sure to convert under an HD profile.

If you don't have Xilisoft, I will be posting a portable version of it in the downloads section. There is no installation necessary, and it's already cracked, so it's the easiest thing in the world to set-up.

I posted the animation pack of HD movies, that one has TLM in .avi, but downloading takes a while, so I do recommend getting the .mkv and converting it with Xilisoft, like Neriede said. xD

I'm almost finished with my part, so I'll probably send it to you either tonight or tomorrow

But the perfectionist in me has to point out there's a typo in Sifra's part, "Everbody". xD I'm SORRY. But I HAVE to point out what I see, I just can't ignore it.


Also, wouldn't Kate's deadline be the 29th? I mean, it's good that Sifra finished fast, but I think the deadline per editor should be the two weeks regardless of other editors. xD Does this make sense? I mean, it IS more fair that way, to give everyone the same deadline.

Sooo, I don't use that xili-thing program I use Prism video file converter and for the most part it does pretty damn nice conversions- but i'd rather not risk it. ><; so um, is it possible you could send me that nifty free converter thingy and... possibly instruct me to the path of HDness I'm to take? or is there a place I can read to know exactly how to make this godly film stay godly? Pretty please?

When you have it, converting goes like this;

Open it,
In the bottom you need to choose the right filetype, so click the Profile bar and choose
HD Video -> HD - AVI Video

Then there's also a Profile sidebar on the right with the Basic Settings. When you choose HD AVI as your profile, it automatically sets the Video Size to 1080p, but we don't want that, so switch it to 720p.
Video Quality: BEST
Audio Quality: BEST
and No Split unless you want the movie in two parts.

Then just click convert once you've picked the files you've converted.

MUCH BETTER THAN PRISM WILL EVER BE.
